Ingredients
- 1 small Asda white baguette, preferably a day old
- 500ml full-fat milk
- 4 large eggs
- Pinch cayenne pepper, optional
- 225g mature Cheddar cheese, grated
- ½ x 220g pack baby plum tomatoes, halved
Method
1 Cut the bread into slices, about 1cm thick. Lightly whisk together the milk and eggs. Season with cayenne and salt and black pepper.
2 Layer the bread, cheese and tomatoes in four 500ml ovenproof dishes, finishing with the cheese. Pour over the milk and eggs and press the bread down gently without squashing it. Leave to stand for 15 minutes.
3 Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200C/Gas 6. Put the dishes on a tray and cook for 20 minutes until risen and lightly set.
