Sausage and apple pasties
These delicious herby parcels are great for lunch boxes – if you can wait till lunchtime!
Makes 8
Preparation time 15 minutes
Cooking time 30 minutes
Plus chilling time
Ingredients
  • 8 Asda Butcher’s Best fruity curry spiced sausages
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1tsp Asda dried sage
  • 1 x 680g pack frozen shortcrust pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Method
1 Cut the sausages open and discard the skins. Mix the meat with the apple and sage, season then chill. Roll out the pastry to about the thickness of a £1 coin and cut out 8 x 15cm circles.

2 Put equal amounts of sausage mixture on the centre of each pastry disc. Brush the edges with water and crimp together, along the top. Chill for 30 minutes.

3 Preheat the oven to 200C/ Gas 6. Brush the pasties lightly with the beaten egg and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until they are golden brown.
