A classic pairing that’s a tasty treat at any time of the day

Ingredients
- 340g frozen shortcrust pastry, defrosted
- 3tbsp Asda Extra Special forest fruits jam
- 100g butter, softened
- 100g caster sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 25g plain flour
- 100g ground almonds
- 125g cherries, pitted
- Icing sugar, for dusting
Method
1 Preheat oven to 200C/Gas 6. Roll pastry to thickness of a £1 coin and line a 23cm tart tin. Prick with a fork, line with greaseproof paper and fill with baking beans. Bake for 12 minutes. Remove the beans and paper, then bake for 3 to 5 minutes until the base is dry. Spread the jam over the base. Turn then oven down to 180C/Gas 4.
2 Beat together butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Gradually beat in the eggs. Stir in the flour and almonds until well combined.
3 Spread almond paste on base. Put cherries on top, pushing them in slightly. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until risen and golden. Dust with icing sugar and serve.
