Fillet steak with mushroom sauce and rosti
If you like to eat organic, this steak dish makes a great alternative Christmas treat
Serves 4
Preparation time 1 hour, 5 minutes
Cooking time 20 minutes
Ingredients
  • 1tbsp organic olive oil
  • 2 organic baking potatoes, peeled
  • 2 small organic red onions, finely chopped
  • 40g organic butter
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 200g organic mushrooms, finely sliced
  • 150ml organic white wine
  • 150ml organic vegetable stock
  • 150g Asda crème fraîche
  • 4 Asda organic fillet steaks

Method
1 Preheat oven to 200C/Gas 6. Grease a 12-bun tray with a little of the oil. Boil the potatoes whole for 10 minutes, cool a little, then grate them.

2 Fry half the onion in the oil until soft. Add the potatoes, season and divide between the bun tins. Dot with half the butter and bake for 20 minutes.

3 Meanwhile, cook the rest of the onion in the remaining butter until soft. Add the garlic and mushrooms and cook until most of the liquid has evaporated. Pour in the wine and simmer until reduced by half, then add the stock and crème fraîche, season and simmer for 5 minutes.

4 Griddle the steaks or dry-fry in a nonstick pan until to your liking. Spoon over the sauce and serve with rösti potatoes and boiled organic vegetables.
