Preparation time 20 minutes
Cooking time 40 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 quantity white bread dough
- 1 egg
- 2tbsp poppy, sesame or sunflower seeds, to decorate
Method
1 Follow the basic white bread dough recipe until you reach the end of step 3. Then knead the dough for 1 minute, and leave it to rest for 10 minutes. Divide into 7 equal pieces and shape each piece into a round roll.
2 Lightly grease a 23cm round, shallow cake tin. Arrange 6 of the rolls around the edge and put the last in the middle. Cover with a clean tea towel and leave to prove for 45 minutes, until the dough has doubled in size. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 200C/Gas 6.
3 Beat the egg with a tablespoon of water and a pinch of salt. Brush this glaze over the rolls and sprinkle with seeds. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped underneath. Cool on a wire rack.
