Fried rice with garlic and ham
A great way to use leftover rice
Serves 1
Preparation time 20 minutes
Ingredients
  • 50g long grain or basmati rice
  • 1tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1⁄2 small onion, chopped
  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 slice ham, roughly chopped
  • 2tbsp frozen peas
  • 1 spring onion, trimmed and finely chopped
  • Pinch Asda hot chilli powder
  • 1 medium egg, beaten
  • Dash light soy sauce
  • Asda fresh coriander, to garnish
Method
1 Cook the rice according to the packet instructions. Drain, rinse and cool quickly.

2 Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan over a high heat. Add the onion and stir-fry for 1 minute, then add the garlic and cook for another minute.

3 Add the ham and peas and fry for a minute, then add the rice and cook for 3 minutes. Toss in the spring onion and chilli powder and fry for 1 minute. Add the egg and stir-fry for another minute. Finally stir in the soy sauce. Garnish with chopped coriander.
