Tropical spiced fruit salad
Suitable for vegetarians
A tangy exotic treat, bursting with colour and taste
Serves 8
Ready in 20 minutes
Plus cooling time
Ingredients
  • 50g granulated sugar
  • 4 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 1 Asda golden Extra Special pineapple
  • 4 Asda premium oranges
  • 2 ripe mangoes
  • 3 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
  • 16 physalis, paper shells removed
  • Mint sprigs, optional
Method
1 Put the sugar and cardamom in a small pan with 200ml water. Heat slowly until the sugar dissolves, and then simmer for 5 minutes. Leave to cool. Remove the cardamom pods.

2 Slice the ends off the pineapple. Cut away the skin and brown eyes. Quarter and cut out the core. Cut into chunks. Working on a plate to save the juices, remove the peel and pith from the oranges, and slice. Peel, stone and slice mangoes.

3 Mix all the fruit and juice together with the syrup. Decorate with mint.
