American-style meatloaf
A meal for when everyone in the family is eating at different times. Serve it hot with mash or cold with salad
Serves 6
Ready in 1 hour, 20 minutes
Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 15g butter
  • 1tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 medium egg, lightly beaten
  • 1tbsp Asda Coarse Grain Mustard
  • 1tbsp Worcester sauce
  • 340g pack Asda Extra Special Pork Chipolatas
  • 800g lean steak mince
  • 50g fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 4tbsp flat-leaf parsley, chopped
  • 300g pot Asda Fresh Napoletana
  • Sauce and vegetables, to serve

Method
1 Preheat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/Gas 5. Line the base of a 2lb loaf tin with baking paper. Cook the onion in the butter and oil until soft and golden. Tip into a bowl. Lightly beat the egg, mustard and Worcester sauce together.

2 Make a cut in the sausage skins, peel off the skin and discard. Add the sausage meat, steak mince, breadcrumbs, parsley and egg mixture to the bowl and season well. Mix thoroughly with your hands.

3 Fill the loaf tin with the sausage and mince mixture, pressing it in firmly. Stand the loaf tin in a roasting tin to catch any cooking juices. Bake for 1 hour. Leave to stand for 10 minutes, then carefully drain off any liquid.

4 Serve the meatloaf hot with the ready-prepared tomato sauce and vegetables, or cold with salad or in sandwiches.
